Who am I?

Hi, I’m Kaya Batista.

I’m a university student in Southern California, in the Los Angeles area, currently working on finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technology with a focus in Computer Science. I currently work in the field, which I really enjoy, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing in both my education and career.

I’m also a photographer, passionate about capturing life’s fleeting moments and turning them into something timeless. My work spans portraits, wildlife, landscapes, and lifestyle photography, all guided by a love for light, emotion, and authentic storytelling.

I’ve been taking photos for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school in 2018 that I started considering myself a photographer. These days, I focus mainly on 35mm film, enjoying the process from beginning to end. I also enjoy collecting vintage cameras and experimenting with different film stocks.

I’m returning to photography after an extended hiatus, having lost all my equipment and countless photos to a natural disaster. My portfolio is the documentation of my journey in photography, it will grow and change over time and so will I. Starting over is scary but I’m happy to have the chance to try again.
